Communed with McDonnell Douglas, belongs to DC-0/MD-80/MD-90 family, the jet is designed for high cycle and short distance regional flights. The jet gets into the market in 1997 but made its first flight on 2 September 1998 and by the help of feedbacks, the design is improved in November. Only 156 Boeing 717 exists in the world and these jets have two Rolls-Royce BR715-A1-30 turbofan engines, two-crew cockpit and advanced electronic system.
Typically, the jet offers a passenger capacity of 106 with two-abreast seats but for the single class, this number can approach to 117. Being in the same category as Airbus A320 in terms of single-aisle, Boeing 717 should be considered as the first choice for large groups that will fly a medium distance.
